1. Pupils discuss first what they think is good about their own country and then what, based on their own knowledge, they think is good about China. After watching Chatbox, pupils contrast the Chinese answers with their own. Are there any surprising differences?
2. Produce a collaborative artefact exploring different ways Chinese people choose English names (example artefacts : CCHQ weblog, magazine article, filmed presentation, podcast).
3. Partner school activity : Work with a class in a Chinese partner school to give each other exciting and appropriate Chinese and English names.
4. Research activity : Find out about Dashan and write an article about ‘cross-talk’ (style of comedy for which he is famous). Create a CCHQ weblog about his career so far. Why do you think he has been so successful?
